Everyone’s life is driven by something.
What is the driving force in your life? People are driven by deadlines, pressure, painful experiences, fear of failure, or some unconscious beliefs.
Others are driven by their past, we are products of our past but should not be prisoners of it.
God’s purpose is not limited by our past, he turned Moses who was a murderer and a coward into a great leader. God specializes in giving people a fresh start no matter the multiples of past failures.
What are some other factors that drive people?
Guilt – this causes its victims to spend their lives running from regrets and hiding in shame.
These kinds of people are manipulated by memories, allowing their past to control their present.
Anger– this category builds on hurts and never gets over them, instead of releasing their pains and hurt they rehearse it repeatedly in their mind. For your sake learn from it and let it go..
Fear – because of a traumatic event or experience or the unknown. These people often miss out because they are afraid to venture out, they play safe and avoid risk, and maintain the status quo. You must move against it with the weapon of faith and love.
Materialism -the desire to acquire more, they have the misconception that acquiring things will make you happy and secure. Your value is not determined by your valuables. Real security can only be found in that which cannot be taken from you, your relationship with God.
Benefits of a purpose-driven life
- Knowing your purpose will give meaning to your life
- Knowing your purpose will simplify your life, it becomes the standard upon which you evaluate which activities are essential and which aren’t.
- Knowing your purpose simplifies your life, you concentrate your effort on what is important
- Knowing your purpose motivates you- purpose always precedes passion. Nothing energizes you like purpose
- Knowing your purpose prepares you for eternity. It moves your focus from trying to create a legacy to focusing on what God at the end of your journey on earth. James Dobson said “given enough time, all your trophies will be trashed by some else” living to create a legacy is a short-sighted goal, a wise use of your time is to build an eternal legacy.
