The believer in Christ can only reign in life and live the life God has ordained him/her to live if they know their position in Christ. When we get saved the bible says that old things are passed away and we become brand new. That is a very important point that we must carry with us, we are completely transformed by our spiritual birth. This alone takes us out of the natural into the supernatural realm, the old is ceases to exist, our past is taken care of by the simple act of accepting Jesus into our lives as our Lord and Savior. 2 Corinthians 5:17~ “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”
As we journey through our Christian walk, the devil very often can make us feel that we are not transformed by bringing up the memories and condemnations into our heart and as a child of God you must not allow the devil to cheat you into feeling that way.
Your constant in-filling of the knowledge of God’s word on who you are will help you stay on top of those negative thoughts.
First we must know that according to Genesis 1:27 ~ “So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.” We are created in the image and in the likeness of God, He gave us the authority to have dominion, and not be dominated by things.
According to Ephesians 2:6 And hath raised us up together and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:
What that means is that we are not ruled by the systems and circumstances in this world. A deep understanding of this will enable us not to succumb to just anything the devil throws at us. We know that we are not in the realm of the natural. We are far above.
Another pointer of who we are in Christ is in Romans 5:17; For if by one man’s offense death reigned by one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by One, Jesus Christ.
God has given us the privilege also to reign in this life as kings and priests. A king is one with honor, there for if that is who we are, any form of dishonor will not be acceptable to us because that is contrary to where God has called us to be.
In Deuteronomy 28 :13 And the Lord shall make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath.
God has made us to be the head and not the tail. In this position in Christ we cannot be in places and be at the bottom of the ladder, we should not be the ones struggling, our place is at the top. Having the knowledge of this will help us to walk in with our head up high and not accept mediocrity.
Another important position that we occupy is that we have been chosen by God, the scripture says we are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, and a holy nation unto God. We are God’s people, you belong to God, that is enough for you to know that you are already destined for a victorious life.
1Peter 2:9 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.
There are many pointers in the scriptures on who we are in Christ and the knowledge of it gives us victory and authority of limitations and circumstances, another of which is in Ephesians 2:10~ “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”
God has made us to do good works, we are his handiwork. He did not make us by accident, we are his intentional creations. You are not an accident; you were created for a purpose.
Some other passages on our identity in Christ for you to study:
Romans 8:37~ “No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. “
Psalm 139:14 ~ “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful; I know that full well”
The only way we can know our position in Christ and live the life He wants us to live is if we search the scriptures. The bible says my people perish for lack of knowledge, the reason why many believers live lives short of what God ordained for them is due to ignorance of who they are. And for those who know the scripture, that do not live that life, it is because of the absence of living it out by faith.
Take the Word of God and meditate on it, until it enters into your spirit and it begins to come out of your mouth. And your life shows it that you are indeed a child of God
