Why the Believer must pray

What is prayer?

In my own definition, it is communicating with God, it is taking to God. It is a two-way kind of communication, where we talk to God, and we meditate and have him talk to us.

Why must the believer pray?
  • God commanded that we pray. Luke 18:1 – 18 Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up.
Mathew 6:5-6 – And when you pray…. This means therefore it is expected that as a believer you should have prayer as a lifestyle.

As a believer because what we have is a relationship with God, and in order to maintain a good relationship we must maintain good communication. It is required we must pray not as a religious activity and not because you want to be free from the religious guilt of not praying.
  • It is the authorized platform for growth and transformation. Luke 9:28-29
And it came to pass about eight days after these sayings, he took Peter and John and James, and went up into a mountain to pray.

And as he prayed, the fashion of his countenance was altered, and his raiment was white and glistering.
When we pray we are moved to a higher glory..
  • Prayer builds us up in our faith. Jude 1:20. It activates our sensitivity to the things of the spirit; our faith is strengthened when we engage in prayer.
  • Prayer is an instrument for warfare and intercession: James 5:13,18. We see in this scripture how prayer can change things. Whenever we are in affliction the bible says we should pray. Acts 12:5 Elijah prayed for rain, and it did.
  • When we pray we activate the host of angels to fight on our behalf.
  • It is the platform to keep your faith alive. Luke 22:30 -32. Jesus prayed for his disciple
  • When we pray, we can overcome in the face of temptation; Luke 22:40.
  • Pray is the platform to make a request and petition. Mark 11:23, Philippians 4:6-7.
There is no aspect of our lives that prayer cannot be involved. Remember the scripture says in James 4:1-4. Why are there wars amongst the believers, strive, verse 3 says lack of prayer.
Prayer is our way of connecting with God in the supernatural, and changing our challenges into victories
